Boil water advisory in effect for Cottonwood Bend

A water main break on Council Loop Road has placed the community water system under a boil water advisory. Bottled water is available at the Community Center.

Posted August 14, 2026

Tribal Utilities crews were called out at 4:20 this morning to a break in the eight-inch main under Council Loop Road, just west of the housing cluster. The break has been isolated and repair work is underway, but pressure loss across the system means we must treat all water as potentially unsafe until two clear test results come back from the lab.

What you need to do

  • Boil all water for one full minute before drinking, cooking, making coffee, mixing formula, or brushing teeth. Let it cool before using.
  • Water is safe for bathing, laundry and washing dishes with hot soapy water.
  • If you use a home dialysis machine or have a compromised immune system, call the clinic at (555) 010-0140 before using tap water for anything.

Free bottled water

Pallets are set up in the Community Center gym, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily, one case per household. Elders and households without transportation can call the Elder Program at (555) 010-0150 for delivery. We will bring it to you.

When will it be lifted?

Two consecutive clear samples, taken 24 hours apart, are required before the advisory can be lifted. Our best estimate is Monday. We will post here, on the Nation’s social media, and on the radio the moment the advisory ends. Do not rely on word of mouth for the all-clear.

Crews are working double shifts on this. We appreciate your patience.
